How to deal with abnormal noise from the galvanometer of a laser marking machine?

Abnormal noise from the galvanometer of a laser marking machine is a relatively common problem, which may be caused by various reasons. Here are some troubleshooting and solution methods:

I. Causes and Solutions of Abnormal Noise from Galvanometer Mirrors

(1) Wear of mechanical components
1. Bearing wear: The bearing wear of the galvanometer motor will cause abnormal noise during operation.
Solution: Check whether the bearings of the galvanometer motor are worn and replace them if necessary.
2. Loose mechanical components: Loose mechanical components inside the galvanometer or those not installed firmly can also cause abnormal noises.
Solution: Check whether the mechanical components inside the galvanometer are loose. If any are loose, they need to be re-tightened.

(2) Drive signal issues
1. Abnormal drive signal: Abnormal signal output of the galvanometer driver or improper setting of gain parameters may cause the galvanometer to operate unstably and produce abnormal sounds.
Solution: Use an oscilloscope to detect the waveform of the drive signal, adjust the gain parameters, and ensure the signal is normal.
2. Driver failure: If the galvanometer driver itself malfunctions, it may cause abnormal operation of the galvanometer.
Solution: Check whether the galvanometer driver is working properly and replace it if necessary.

(3) Improper setting of scanning speed
1. Excessive scanning speed: If the scanning speed is set too high, the galvanometer may not be able to reach this speed, resulting in unstable operation and abnormal noise.
Solution: Appropriately reduce the scanning speed to ensure the smooth operation of the galvanometer.
2. Mismatch between marking speed and laser frequency: When the marking speed is too fast and the laser's output frequency is low, the galvanometer may not be synchronized, resulting in abnormal noise.
Solution: Adjust the marking speed and laser frequency to match them.

(4) Environmental interference
1. Surrounding interference sources: If there are strong electromagnetic interference sources around the equipment, it may affect the normal operation of the galvanometer and cause abnormal noises.
Solution: Check if there are any strong electromagnetic interference sources around the equipment. If so, remove them or take shielding measures.

(V) Galvanometer motor failure
1. Motor damage: If the galvanometer motor itself malfunctions, such as the motor coil being damaged or the motor bearing wearing, it may cause abnormal noise during operation.
Solution: Check whether the galvanometer motor is working properly and replace it if necessary.

Ii. Daily Maintenance Suggestions

(1) Regular inspection and lubrication
1. Inspect mechanical components: Regularly check whether the bearings and mechanical parts of the galvanometer motor are loose or worn. Tighten or replace them if necessary.
2. Lubricate the guide rails: Regularly lubricate the guide rails to ensure their smooth operation.

(2) Calibrate the galvanometer
1. Regular calibration: Regularly calibrate the galvanometer to ensure its operational accuracy. Standard calibration plates can be used for debugging.
2. Check the optical path: Regularly inspect the optical path for any deviation to ensure that the laser beam can accurately focus on the material surface.

(3) Optimize the working environment
1. Control temperature and humidity: Ensure that the equipment operates in a suitable environment. The temperature should be controlled between 15 and 35℃, and the humidity should be less than 60%.
2. Reduce vibration: Ensure that the equipment is placed on a stable ground to avoid vibration affecting the operation of the galvanometer.

By the above methods, the problem of abnormal noise from the galvanometer of the laser marking machine can be effectively solved, improving the operational stability of the equipment and the marking quality. If the problem still cannot be solved, it is recommended to contact the equipment manufacturer or professional maintenance personnel for inspection and repair.
